On Wednesday 20th March, we will be celebrating, for the 2nd year running in the UK, Macaron Day! Pierre Hermé and members of the Relais Desserts invite you to join around France’s most famous colourful sweet, the Macaron!
62 pastry chefs in France and abroad in 160 boutiques: a collegial and international mobilisation synonymous with a cheer for gourmandise, and an impactful act of public awareness for a good cause, that of the fight against cystic fibrosis.
This day of solidarity, at Pierre Hermé’s initiative, finds more and more success every year, as pastry chefs from the Relais Desserts have invested themselves with passion, to present with inspiration the macaron and mobilise gourmets around a solidary action.
In this way this year again, each pastry chef will rise to the challenge, that of amazing, surprising, of treating unconditional fans or new recruits around the most surprising tastes and colours. New flavours, unreleased recipes, the time will unquestionably be dedicated to
For this unique annual event, all Pierre Hermé Paris boutiques will offer a selection of 25 emblematic flavours. An opportunity to discover or rediscover the universe of tastes, sensations and pleasures created by the man that Vogue dubbed “the Picasso of Pastry”!
More than the simple pleasure of taste, this day is oriented towards solidary action. This year Pierre Hermé and the members of the Relais Desserts have decided to support the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the respiratory and digestive systems, making it hard to breathe and digest food. Despite 1 in 25 people in the UK carrying
the faulty gene that causes cystic fibrosis, and over 9,300 people in the UK having the disease, it remains relatively unknown.
The only UK-wide charity focusing solely on this disease, the Cystic Fibrosis Trust actively supports excellence in research and clinical care, as well as provides practical support and advice to people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families. The money raised through endeavours such as Macaron Day will help fund this high quality research to better understand the disease and develop new treatments as well as help and support to families in need. On the 20th March, volunteers from the charity will rally at each Pierre Hermé Paris boutique and member of the Relais Desserts to encourage involvement and collect donations. This proximity will allow them to answer any questions and share their energy, dynamism and enthusiasm.
Beyond the donations collected and the donation of a percentage of sales achieved on the day in all boutiques, the Maison Pierre Hermé Paris will donate a further £7 per Les Jardins Retrospective box sold.
More than ever, on the 20th March, without a doubt, the message is simple and noble : One donation, One macaron!
